Hirondelles La Folie, Betz-le-Chateau, 37600, France (70191)

Date of Stay 14 September 2013

We had seven lovely days at la Folie. We loved it! Great company, food, bike rides and, of course, the chateaux. We will remember how quiet and peaceful it was. Hope to come back!

Tourterelles - 5 stars La Folie, Betz-le-Chateau, 37600, France (70191)

Thankyou for a very relaxing stay at Tourterelles. We have loved the place, the gardens, the pool and the cottage. It is great, no different from what we are used to. Have had some great days out to Amboise, Chenonceau, Loches, Descartes and a big bike ride.

We have had the most truly lovely time at Hirondelles. Lots of friends and family visited to fill the space. Loved the morning bike ride to Betz for bread, canoed in Descartes and enjoyed the Sunday market. Also awed by Chenonceau. Our girls and the family have enjoyed the pool and grounds. Many thanks for your super hospitality! Herts, England

Thank you for a wonderful family time! The only rain fell at night and what storms we had! The pool has been a must everyday and we have managed to visit a few chateaux. Truly a memorable week.

Hirondelles Spell La Folie, Betz-le-Chateau, 37600, France (70191)

We hope everyone who follows us at La Folie has an equally memorable and enjoyable holiday as we have ad at Hirondelles. It may take some swallowing but three lovely mid-teenagers, two active more mature parents and two grand parents in their mid-eighties fell beneath the spell of Hirondelle to spend a lovely week sharing memories and activities. It was as if Hirondelles was an extension of it's owners' warm, welcoming and embracing nature to mould three generations and pet dog, Alfie, into one very happy family. Two regrets though. Firstly, that for the most elderly, the experience had not been enjoyed years before. Secondly, the seven days went far too quickly. But we are all very grateful to Barbara for making it possible. And to her daughter, Amanda, whose language skills, knowledge, guidance and warm personality as our "Girl Friday" enhanced our stay immensely.

We have been here a week and what a lovely week we have had. The weather has been good (95% of the time). The houses have suited our needs perfectly. And what a lovely house. We found you via the internet and to say we were very impressed is an understatement. Karen who met us on Saturday when we arrived was very pleasant and full of local knowledge. The pol has been a big hit with all our children. We think it is fantastic! The highlights have been: we have watched the bats returning to the barn, the red squirrels, the grey heron. We liked preparing our food in the excellent kitchen facilities and eating al fresco. Matthew and Jo had lots of fun on the trampoline. We enjoyed cycling. WE also saw a (harmless) snake last evening and my boy Matthew was facinated by it and not at all scared! We had a great time and hope to visit again in the future.

Bonjour Karen,

We thoroughly enjoyed our fortnight in Tourterelles this summer. From the warm welcome, including all the fruit, tea, coffee, milk, wine bread and butter, to the huge garden, lizards, hummingbird moths, trampoline, bikes, table tennis to the best pool ever we couldn't have asked for more. We loved this area so much, we came back for the second year and were not disappointed. There is lots for all the family to do nearby yet it is so peaceful, quiet, wonderfully rural and very French - there was even a field of sunflowers next door!

The property was very clean and provided everything we needed and even more. The welcome of the owner was delightful.
Not only for young children but also for the adolescent there was al lot to do. Biking, swimming, and chilling. We, as parents from the 2 families, had a very relaxed and joyful time.
Enough action within small distance, markets, beautiful villages, castles, cities. Perfect for a nice holiday.

Getting away from it all is the phrase that truly describes La Folie in winter. The house is just beautiful full of character and spotlessly clean. Everything you could need is provided. This is definitely an oasis-the sort of place you would want to keep secret but that would be too selfish - so we would definitely recommend both for a quiet winter holiday and for summer having stayed 2 years in a row - the pool is a big hit with the family as are the cycles, table tennis, trampoline - all used continuously during the hot weather. The chateaux and beautiful countryside are well worth visiting there is plenty of info in the house.
